KNOW YOUR MATHEMATICIAN - PROF MANUJAL BHARGAVA

This is the second series of Know Your mathematicians. In the upcoming examination, questions from such series will be asked. So keep collecting the questions and read it for the examination.

                                                            Prof Manujal Bhargava

 Manjul Bhargava was born on 8th August, 1974. He was born to an Indian family in Canada, but grew up and attended school primarily in New York.  His mother Mira Bhargava, taught mathematics at Hofstra University. As a child, Bhargava often used to skip classes. He preferred sitting in his mother’s classes instead. Manjul Bhargava completed all of his high school mathematics course and also the computer science course by the age of 14. Manjul Bhargava describes himself as an Indian at heart. He studied Sanskrit from his grandfather Purushottam Lal Bhargava, a reputed scholar of Sanskrit and Ancient History. Manjul Bhargava is a great admirer of Sanskrit poetry.  He is also an expert tabla player. He was only 28 years old when he became the professor at the Princeton University. He is an expert in number theory, the study of the properties and relationships of numbers. He was awarded the prestigious Fields Medal, the highest award in the field of mathematics in 2014 for developing powerful new methods in the geometry of numbers. The third highest civilian award of the Indian Government, Padma Bhushan was awarded to Manjul Bhargava in 2015.
