Thanks a lot to all of you. In the last 4 days, more than 10,000 students have tried to answer the questions based on the life of mathematical genius Srinivas Ramanujan, whose birthday is being celebrated as National Mathematics Day (22nd December) in India.

Let's get inspired by knowing few facts related to Ramanujan's life.

1. Ramanujan was a child prodigy . Mathematics was his passion but he never scored 100 out of 100 in mathematics. It doesn't mean that his knowledge of the subject Mathematics was less than those having 100 marks.

Ramanujan Quiz Day - 1

Dear Students

SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN, an inspiration for million was born on 22nd December 1887 in Madras Province of British India. His birthday 22nd December is celebrated as NATIONAL MATH DAY since 2011, when the then PM of India Dr Manmohan Singh declared it. His journey from a small town Erode to England is a phenomenal event that will make you feel that you too can achieve the height with your dedication and love to the subject.

The life of Ramanujan gives us strength to fight against all odds and to be a winner.

Being born in a very poor family where hardly could he get meal at the end of the day, Ramanujan reached the top of mathematical mountain.

Blessing of parents, advice of teachers and friends and cooperation and support of G H Hardy brought a genius of Ramanujan.

Here is a small efforts from my side to salute the mathematical genius. Do join me to know about Ramanujan and his journey from a small town Kumbakonam to England.

If you want to know about Ramanujan the great mathematician don't forget to read the following books.

National Math Day Relay Competition

National Math Day Relay Competition

As all of us are aware that the Mathematics Day is being celebrated on 22 December every year in the memory of Shri  Ramanujan the great mathematician of this country. On this great day  a Mathematics Relay quiz is being organised.  It will begin from 20th December 2024 and culminate on 22nd Dec. 2024.

The objectives of Relay are as under:

a)      -- To confiscate myths and misconceptions about mathematical and mathematics problem.

b)     * -- To appreciate the true nature and creative aspect of mathematics in classroom and daily life.

c)    * --   To feel the extra and social character of mathematics.

d)     ---  To cultivate constructive mathematical disposition and passion for mathematics, mathematics books and mental maths rituals.

e)      *---To promote concentrate extracts and aesthetics thinking in and about mathematics.

Guidelines for Mathematical Relay Quiz

1.       It is a two tier exam where the first level exam will be an individual class based exam (75% syllabus from NCERT) followed by a group exam.  The group exam will be decided on the number of students from different class passing the first level and making it to second level.

3.       The group of three students will make a team of one class.

4.       A set of 3 questions will be given to 3 students and answer of question will be moving in forward to backward direction A to B and B to C etc.  The second level will be either a mixed group (6-8 class) and (9-12 class) or the separate class group that will be decided on the number of students and will be informed in advance.

2nd Round:- It is a group activities and will be performed by a team consisting of 3 students. A set of 9 questions will be given (3 to each) to be solved in 9 - 15 minutes as decided by the management. Suppose the three boys are P, Q and  R

a) P (1) will solve his first question and give the solution to Q (2)

b) Q (2) will solve his question and share the solution of both P (1) and Q(2) to R (3)

c) R(3) will solve his question, that will require the input value of P (1) and Q (2) . Look at the diagram below to understand the game. Here 1 , 2 and 3 are three students sitting back to back.

Target Group: The students of class 6 to 12 class can participate.
