                                                                     TRIANGLE

                                                               QUESTION = 1

A tree breaks due to storm and the broken part bends so that the top of the tree touches the ground. The height of unbroken part is 15m and the distance between the foot of the tree and the top of the tree on the ground is 20m. Use the Pythagoras theorem and answer the following question.

1.      What is the length of the broken part of the tree?

2.      What was the height of full tree?

3.      Draw a rough diagram using the above data and find the length of hypotenuse?

4.      Find the area of the triangle

                                                               QUESTION - 2

Laws of reflection says

The angle of incidence = Angle of reflection. Raju places a mirror on the level ground to determine the height of pole so he stands at a certain distance to see the reflection of top of the pole in mirror. The eye level of Raju’s eye above the ground is 1.2m and distance of mirror from the foot of pole and Raju is 6m and 1.6m respectively, on the basis of the above information,

1.      Find the height of pole.

2.       Which criterion of similarity is applicable to similar triangles? (a) SSA (b) ASA (c) SSS (d) AA

3.      If AB is the height of the pole and mirror is placed at point C such that <ACB = 300 then find the angle subtended between point C and Raju’s eye.

4.      If Raju’s height is denoted by DE and <DCE = α then find Sinα

                                                    QUESTION = 3

An airplane leaves from the airport A and flies due west to a point B at a speed of 2100km/hr. At the same time, another airplane from the same airport flies due south at a speed of 2800km/hr. and reaches to point C. Draw a diagram from the above information and on the basis of above information answer the following questions

-1. How far apart will be the two planes after 1 hour.

2. Name the theorem that you used to find the distance.

3. Suppose the plane moves east at a speed of 1200km/h and due north at a speed of 1600 km/h then what will be the distance between the planes after two and half hours.
